"On May 12, I had laser surgery on the right side of my mouth, upper and lower. There was not much bleeding compared to surgery that I had years earlier. No stitches were required. After surgery, I took 2 pain pills, but I never felt any pain after the laser surgery. There was no swelling or discomfort. For the days following, I had only liquids and soft foods as instructed. This was an improvement overall compared to earlier surgeries.

"When my dentist referred me to Dr. Dennis Winson for periodontal laser surgery, I was very anxious about this new procedure. Before the surgery, Dr. Winson explained in detail what would happen and he alleviated some of my anxieties. The procedure took 2 visits, a week apart. Each time my mouth was anestitized. The procedure took nearly two hours each time. Aside from the minor pin pricks from the novacaine there was no pain. By using the laser treatment, there was no pain, no blood and no stitches. The day after the surgery I was able to work as I usually did. The most inconvenient aspect of this surgery is that one has to eat soft food for a period of time. But that is minor. I would recommend periodontal laser surgery to anyone who needs it."

"What I thought would be 2 hours of bad pain, it was not, I was first reluctant to do this laser treatment because of the terrible pain I may experience during and after the treatment. My thoughts and fears were truly exaggerated. Yes, there was pain, when I received the numbing injection during the procedure I really did not feel any pain at all and only discomfort from having to keep my mouth open. After the procedure, I did experience some dull aching pain which was relived by the motrin. Swelling was minimal, I experience no post procedure complications. The only disadvantage I had was the fact I had to change my diet to clean/soft (I love my food!!!) That's just a small sacrifice to make which was well worth it. Overall the experience was actually a good experience. What I though initially was over exaggerated to me it well worth the minimal discomfort to have a healthy set of teeth and gums."
